Change of channel course its speed at the change in case of the meandering rivers Timár, G. - Telbisz, T. Summary: This study is an overview of the results of the international literature of the physics and hydrology in the last half century. It focuses to the mechanism of the river meanders amd the factors controlling the sinuosity of the meandering rivers. Beyond the representation of the self-organising character of the meandering rivers, some examples are shown on Hungarian rivers. Finally, practical usage and modelling aspects of the meandering are discussed. Key words: river dynamics, meandering, sef-organizing processes, river regulation
