Groundwater table in Tisza valley front 1994 to 1995 and from 1998 to 1999. Inundation by undrained runoff in the SE part of the Danube-Tisza plains in 1999 Molnár, & Abstract: Large areas in the SE part of the Danube-Tisza plains in Hungary were inundated by undrained runoff in 1999. The causes thereof were identified as the general SE slope of the area, the low elevation of the Tisza Valley, the geological structure and hydrogeology of the area, the groundwater seeping from the Danube-Tisza sand ridge towards the area, the groundwater table rising under the head created, further the abundant precipitation which fell on the area during the past two years, especially in 1999.
