Enhancing low rlver (lows by storage Stegaroiu, P.-Negrlu, A. (Ms) Abslract: Starting from the natural flow regime in somé of the major rivers in Rumania, the possibilities of augmenting their low flows by reservoir storage are examined. The river flow controlled by storage and the normál mean flow are related to each other, the ratio expressing the level of regime control. The effective volume of the reservoirs and the runoff volume in a normál years are related to each other, the ratio expressing the level of storage in the catchment. A correlation analysis of the above two index numbers revealed the impacts of increasing beyond a particular limit the low flows by controlled storage and the way in which this may prevent increasing furtherthe net reservoir volume simultaneously.
