A hulladékelhelyezés témakörével spanyolországi szakmai gyakorlatokon ismerkedett meg. Diplomatervét a Santanderi Egyetem (Universidad de Cantabria) Környezetvédelmi Tanszékén készítette, "Szilárd kommunális hulladékok felszíni elhelyezése" címmel. 1992 óta a Miskolci Egyetem Hidrogeológiai-Mérnökgeológiai tanszékén doktorandusz. The water budget of communal landfllls Kiss, G. Abstract: The factor of decisive importance in the water budget of a well engineered communal landfill is the precipitation falling on its surface, the major part of which evaporates. Leacheate water does not appear until the wastes are saturated which takes normally an extended period of time. On the average over the year the amount of leacheate is 30 - 40 %ofthe precipitation. Monitoring and treatment ofthe leacheate from landfllls is comparable in importance to familiarity with the factors affecting treatment. In designing and operating landfllls efforts should be made at achieving the highest possible surface runoff in order to minimize thus the leacheate volumes.
