The basio data and information on the catchment were especially searce in the area drained by the River Ipoly. Besides the direot water regime data, the morphological changes in the catchment and the river bed, the factors influencing channel storage, further the parameters of flood routing were explored. The method of cascade models was used successfully to describe the propagation of flood waves along the river. The approach adopted for the study on the River Ipoly is a model example. Keywords: Flood forecasting, medium-size catchments, cascade model, River Ipoly 1959-ben született Budapesten. 1983-ban a Leningrádi Hidrometeorológiai Egyetem szárazföldi, hidrológus szakán mérnöki diplomát, majd 1990-ben a Budapesti Műszaki Egyetem Építőmérnöki Kara Vízépítő Mérnöki Karán szakmérnöki oklevelet szerzett. 1983 óta a Középdunavölgyi Vízügyi Igazgatóságon dolgozik, 1984-től mint a Felszíni Vízgazdálkodási Csoport megbízott vezetője, 1987 decemberétől a Vízrajzi Csoport vezetője.
