Water saturation of the soil, observed by the National Meterological Service, was introduced as a direct data largely neglected so far for characterizing the conditions in the catchment. Radar observations were included in the rainfall analysis. The changes deemed necessary in the stage-discharge curves were considered. The development of a flood loop at Zalaapáti was demonstrated and the slope-dependent family of stage-discharge curves plotted from the available data is presented. Flood flows of different probability were derived for the gages on the Zala River from the modified data series. Infiltration not considered adequately in normal flood mass balance studies was analysed in detail. Reservoir performance was assessed unconventionally on the basis of the outflow hydrograph. The western and eastern- basis of the reservoir behaved differently during the passage of the flood wave, with storage confined virtually to the western basin alone. Ugyanitt 1967-ben szakmérnöki oklevelet, majd 1969-ben egyetemi doktori címet szerzett. 1978-ban a BME Építőmérnöki Karán hidrológiai ós vízkészlet-gazdálkodási szakmór. nöki oklevelet kapott. 1972-ig az alföldi szónhidrogénkutatásban tevókonykedett1973-tól a Nyugat-dunántúli Vízügyi Igazgatóság vízrajzi szakágazatánál dolgozik. 1968-ban szerzett diplomát a BME Építőmérnöki Karán. Azóta a Nyugat-dunántúli Vízügyi Igazgatóságon dolgozik. 1970—1980 között a vízrendezési osztályon az állami kezelésű vízfolyások tervezésének, rendezésének ós fenntartásának koordinálása volt a feladata. 1981-től a Kis-Balaton védőrendszer megvalósítására létrehozott csoport tagja.
