Phytoplankton Organisms from Agra, Wazirabad and Okhla Reservoirs Dr. Hortobágyi, T. Present paper is intended to give an acount on the investigations made on the microorganisms eneountered during the months April, May and June 1964 in the reservoirs of Wazirabad, Okhla (in the proximity of Delhi) and Agra reservoirs constructed on the Jamuna River, India. These reservoirs are situat.ed in the western part of Northern India at 26°—29° N, several hundred kilometers far from the Himalayas as nearest montains. An accurate recognition of the phytoplankton is essential for ehecking the water quality and evaluating the rate of pollution. 327 kinds of plánt organisms have been found in these three biotopes. The identification of Bacillariophyceae included was carried out by Dr. G. Szemes. Planctomyces Békefii Gim. classed into Schizomycophyta Caulobaeterialcs order appeared in three morphotypes; the long and undulatory stalk type was unknown before. The jiarallel morphoses observed in Chlorococcales from many Hungai ian biotopes may be found in India as well. A very common feature of the taxa provided with spines is brought forth by the unusual thickenings of these spines in first place in the Scenedesmus genus, and among Tetraédra in the second. The parallel morphoses known before and recorded by myself in the case of Scenedesmus eould be refound for newer species too. I was even able to demonstrate the presence of somé parallel appearing marks not recorded as far, among them partieularly conspicuous was that of cornutus t.ype. I had a newer opportunity to point out once more the unstable charaeter of gas-vacuoles in Cyanophyta. A more detailed survey might be pretended by the eonjugation-like appearence of Spirulina laxissima G. S. West f. major Desik. Notewort-hy are the teratomes eneountered for a number of species. 4 species, 24 varieties and 9 forms are new for the scienee.
