The chemical composition of the mineral water of Simontornya. By Dr. S. S. de Finály. (Publication from the Royal Hungarian Chemical Institute and Central Experiment Station Budapest. Director-in-chief: Dr. A. Zöhls.)* The water of the Artesian well of the village Simontornya has been analysed by me in October 1935. As I am told this water is sold in significant amounts in the neighbourhood of Lake Balaton as a mineral water artificially saturated by carbonic acid I suppose it will be worth to publish the data of my analysis. I have to thank the directors of the Simontornyai Artézi Kristályvíz Co. Ltd. for their kind permission in this respect. The Artesian well from which the water in question takes its origin has been bored in the year 1908. The water comes of a depth of 283 meters and its amount equals 33 liters in a minute measured at the level of outflow. In the time of the boring the geological data of the layers were not yet regularly accumulated and this is the cause why I cannot detail here the geological structure of the layers which are the source of this water. As for former analyses of the water, Prof. Ede László analysed it for the first time in the year 1909. He found following data: 0.7397 g NaHCOs 0.0390 g Ca(HCOs)2 0.0341 g Mg(HCOs)2 and 0.1190 g NaCl, totalling 0.9318 g in one 1. Later on Dr. Vilmos Pósa made another analysis in October 1934 for technical purposes, including bicarbonate hardness (33.6 German grades), constant hardness (28.0 German grades), per* Magyarul megjelenik a Kísérletügyi Közlemények című folyóiratban.
