BENEDICTION OF WINE ON THE DAY OF SAINT JOHN

Places: the Basilica, the square in front of the Basilica,

the historic inner city

The aim of the event is to introduce a lesser-known European tradition to Hungary — the feast of the new wine — which is connected with the feast of the patron saint of the Eger Diocese: thus the new wine receives its benediction on the day of Saint John.

Programmes:

Benediction of wine in the Basilica, in the presence of the Knights of the Wine-orders

Spectacular programmes, wine-tasting on the square in front of the Basilica

One Eger wine, one Eger dish - a gastronomical journey round the restaurants of Eger, between December 27 and 3 January.

Awarding the "Eger wine-grower of the year" and the "Eger wine-producer of the year" titles
