The 1999 tourist and cultural programmes of the City of Eger 1 January, Friday NEW YEAR'S CONCERT New Year's concert by the Eger Symphonic Band Place: Gárdonyi Géza Theatre, Eger, Hatvani Kapu tér 4. Performances start at 16.00 and 19.00 Duration of the performances: approximately 90 minutes Once again, the popular concert welcoming the new year by performing classical pieces will offer special entertainment. The main theme of the concert is dance. In the first part of the evening the audience will have the pleasure to hear Hungarian folk pieces in two different forms: original Hungarian folk music and its full orchestra interpretation by composers including Brahms and Bartók. In the second part of the evening singers and dancers will perform hot and exotic Spanish, Italian, Latin-American pieces, which will then be followed by jazz in the form of ragtime. Also performing: the Eger Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Szabó Sípos Máté, and the Gajdos Folk-music and Folk-dance Ensemble. Event initiated by the Local Government of the City of Eger .
