During the Turkish occupation, the local Turks, who had a fairly well-developed bathing-culture, built baths based on the Eger thermal springs. Theevidenceof this bathing-culture, the "Turkish Bath", can be seen in the open-air swimming-pool. The modern, fixed-surface, 50-meter pool constructed this year will serve the increased demand for swimming. Among the future projects of Eger, the city of baths, is the construction of a new, indoor swimming-pool. The kaleidoscope offered by the local tourist sights is further increased by special programmes. Besides the business and professional conferences, great emphasis is laid on tourist and cultural events, which are organized annually, within the same period of time, mostly in the open air and particularly during the high-season (June through September). In addition to the events during the season, Eger endeavours to fill the whole calendar year with rich programmes.
