Diese Vorstellung wurde dadurch motiviert, daß die Musikkultur nicht nur der Unterhaltung dient, sondern auch dazu, die Touristen mit niveauvollen Musikprogrammen zu unterhalten.

Ich empfehle Ihnen diese vielversprechende Programmreihe, diesen Erwartungen zu folgen, daß unsere Initiative zu einer Tradition wird, und das Festival damit zu einem wiederkehrenden Motiv in den sommerlichen kulturellen Veranstaltungen unserer Stadt wird.

Das kann auch durch die Konzerte Vangelis: 1492 und den Messen von Haazen und Ramirez erreicht werden.

The 1st International Eger Music Festival organised by the Budapest Academic Choral Society will take place in our city from the 9th to the 11th of July, 1998.

The City of Eger - like many other European cities - was open to be host to such a festival that wishes to serve the audience with the widest possible range of musical genres and concert venues.

Our motivation stems from the fact that music does not only entertain, but it makes people want to stay for a longer time in our city to find a such wide variety of musical programmes.

I am warmly recommending to you this promising concert series hoping that we will live up to your expectations and this event will grow to be a tradition and become an annually returning highlight of the cultural life in Eger.

My hopes are encouraged by such highly interesting programmes as the concert performance of 1492 - The Conguest of Paradise by Vangelis or the performances of Guido Haazen’s African Messa Luba and the Latin American Misa Criolla by Ariel Ramirez.
