The multifold demands of our days can be satisfied by following cultur­al institutions:-The Géza Gárdonyi Theatre with its two sections is an evidence that Eger is the cultural centre of the region.-The County Cultural Centre with its artistical groups, clubs is frequented yearly by about 200.000 visitors to attend performances organized by the mentioned institution: folk-lore events, festivals.-The House of Youth offers mainly the youth rich musical programmes with its concerts, but also exhibitions and theatre performances take place there.-The County Library in the Grand-Provost Palace is also one of the most important cultural centres of the town and the county.-The „Forrás” (source) Free Time Centre for children of school age, organizes summer camps, a good relaxation for children.- The thermal bath with medicinal water, situated in the central part of the town is open summer and winter. Right next to it is the Archbishop’s Garden with an area of 10 hectares. This big green ground is a territory of nature conservation. It satisfies the recreation demands of the tourists as well as that of the inhabitants by jogging possibility and open-air gymnas­tics. Mentioning the good use of spare time, Eger has great traditions con­cerning the very popular water sports: since decades our swimmers and the water polo team were very successful in our country as well as abroad.
