Das Hauptgebäude, den Mitteltrakt im Obergeschoß des Ostflügels nimmt die städtische Direktion der Versicherungsfirma Nationale Nederlanden ein. Mit dem 1. Dezember 1994 (Tag des Radio Gyöngyös) hat im Nordtrakt der erste Sender von Gyöngyös und Umgebung (Wellenlänge: 88,9 MHz) seine Tätigkeit begonnen. In den anderen Flügeln des Gebäudes werden ein Restaurant, eine Bierstube, eine Kegelbahn, Squash, Trainingsraum, Sauna und Solarium, eine Pension, weiters eine Markthalle, Unterkünfte und Büros ausgestaltet; in der Mitte des Hofes ein Markt, nachmittags jedoch kulturelle Veranstaltungen und Gaststätten untergebracht. In den übrigen Teilen des Hofes wird eine bewegliche Freilichtbühne errichtet, wo Ausstellungen, Volksmusik- und Rockkonzerte veranstaltet werden.

Der größte, und mit Recht berühmte Gebäudekomplex von Gyöngyös ist nun, vollkommen erneuert, der Stolz der Stadt und zieht zweifelsohne die Aufmerksamkeit der Besucher auf sich.

SUMMARY

The 'county hall' in Gyöngyös is an 18th century Baroque building, the largest in the town.

Neither frequent fires nor political and social changes have destroyed the building. People in Gyöngyös have called it the county hall, although it has never functioned as such.

The building was originally constructed as an army barracks between 1767 and 1774. County meetings were held in Gyöngyös in the 18th century, but not in this building. From 1785 it housed the county law court and provided accomodation for soldiers. It served as a barracks for hussars (cavalrymen) between 1800 and 1829, from the to 1848 it housed military barracks. A military hospital functioned in the building from 1849 to 1857. The it became a barracks for hussars again from 1868 to 1918. It housed a state stud between 1929 and 1961, when it became the headquarters for the Gyöngyös-Do- moszló State Farm until 1993.

County Center Investment, Trade and Services Ltd. purchased the building in 1994 and began reconstruction. The new owners are the members of the company; László Angeli, Attila Csiba, László Majoros (ASTRA 2000 Ltd.), Éva Wukován Lángné, József Láng (APEX Elektronika Ltd.), Péter Előházi, Gábor Vass and János Hegyi, local enterpreneurs.
