The Eger Turkish Bath The bath was built by the Turkish occupiers between 1610 and 1617. The central part of the building comes from the 17th century and it was Arnaut pasha’s ilija, hot water bath. During the reconstructions the Turkish character was preserved: it has an octagonal central pool with a golden cupola above it, ogee arched grayish- green ceramics tiling on the wall, the refracted light comes in through round glass pieces from the sides, which creates a genuine Turkish ilija atmosphere in the building. The water of the Turkish bath is of neutral temperature, 31-32 °C, thus those suffering from hypertension or from heart diseases can also make use of it. Besides the central pool there are two other smaller pools, two hot water pools with 35 °C water in them and a medicinal weight bath at the disposal of visitors. Under doctoral supervision massage, water jet massage and also mud packing is done, the mud is brought here from Hévíz, another famous health resort.
