The programme starts on the 24th with sports events; football, archery and skeet competitions. A flower-show in Hotel Avar and exhibitions ol handicrafts, embroidery, photos and local history in the Bene House attract people from miles around. The evening programme begins with the lighting of a Midsummer Night's fire and entertainment continues with majorette and saloon-dance performances and ends with a street-ball The religious ceremonies - the mass and the procession at St. John’s Church-on the morning of the 25th leave striking evidence of the not-forgotten religious customs of the inhabitants. In the afternoon a meeting of folk-song choirs on the open-air stage will offer amusemenl. The programme ends with a litany at the shrine of the Virgin. During the event a market of handicraft products at Mátrafüred presents an opportunity for our guests to discover the folk arts of the past. Every year in September the town hosts a series of colourful cultural events causing to remember the viticulture and the vintage traditions. The most outstanding folk groups of Heves County will participate in the events of the "Vintage Foreshadow" from September 5th - 7th. In the "Agria" Folk dance festival from September 8th - 10th not only Hungarian, but also foreign ensembles will present their cultural heritage. The "Eger Folk Week" from the 11th - 17th will be a scene of entertainment with folk dances and music, performed by several groups and choirs. 9-10 September_____________________________________________________________ Gyöngyös - Mátrafüred 10 th "MÁTRAI" MEETING OF CLASSIC AUTOMOBILES In the last years there were more than 50 classic cars and motorcycles at the meeting. The first day of the event starts with a Rallye race, which will pass through the handsomely situated villages at the loot of the Mátra mountains. Then you can root for your favourite car at the skill race in Gyöngyös.
