The navigation lock situated on the left-hand side of the weir is placed upstream relative to the latter. The net chamber area is 85 by 12 m. The sill of the upstream head is at El. 84 m A. O. D. and that of the downstream head at El. 78 m A. O. D. The upper level of structure is at El. 92,60 m A. O. D. The control sluices, the filling and emptying ducts are located in the chamber walls. In the right-hand side chamber wall of the downstream head a fish pass has been incorporated. The main closures of the lock are formed by mitre-gates, while temporary closures can be effected by stop logs. The mitre gates and the closing gates of the filling and emptying ducts are controlled by oil hydraulic hoists. The emplacement of the temporary closures is performed by the gantry cranes travelling the length of the weir and by the 2 by 5 Mp gantry crane travelling the length of the navigation lock. The operation of navigation is controlled from the control tower situated at the downstream side of the lock. The navigation lock is constructed with dimensions to meet the specifications for Class IV. waterways and enabling the sluicing of 1350 ton vessels.
