Similar action had been taken earlier calling fór the resignation of Dr Miklós Vida and Sándor Dauda because of their attitűdé in the parliamentary vote <jn the Bős-Nagymaros dam, which contradicted the wishes of the electorate, and the number of signatures necessary by law waa collected. Now the Gödöllő branch of the Hungárián Democratic Fórum have issued a statement which says that, with help from the Young Democrats Alliance, they have collected the number of signatures necessary to decree a by-election in Mrs Cservenka’s constituency. This number, 2600, was obtained in a very short time, six days, and yeterday at 5 pm it was reached bút signatures will continue to be collected. ' The statement says that Mrs Cservenka " who is the MP fór the Gödöllő no.4 constituency has nőt, according to her electorate, dealt with the probléma in her constituency fór a long time bút subordinates parliamentary business to Party business. This action was begun after she replied to the question of who does she represent with: 'In Parliament I do nőt represent the people bút the Party'." Mrs Cservenka has been a Party member since 1936, she became a member of the Central Committee in February 1957 and remained there until May 1988. She was the First Secretary to the Pest County Party Committee from 1962 until 1983 and from 1980 until last October she was Vice-Chairperson of Parliament. She has been an MP continuously since 1958. She recently made the following unexplained statement in Gödöllő: "let them petition against me; we are petitioning tooí" Is it possible that they have started collecting signatures in Parliament so that they can replace the electorate? j í Subscribers can use or quote the Hungárián October newsletters in totál or in detail as long as the source is acknowledged.
