A few days ago young people in Budapest who are members of the group "Conscience *88" announced a two week long protest in front of the Románián Embassy in Thököly Street. The announcement which was distributed in leaflet form stresses their wish to stop the execution of the resettlement plán and to restore deteriorating relations between Hungary and Románia by holding this protest. The "Conscience ’88" group demands that "in the interest of establishing a high level Hungarian-Romanian dialogue and of solving the problem the Hungárián govemment must immediately tűm to the U.N. and COMECON. The destruction of villages must cease and genuine negotiations be established". The organisers want to ensure the continuity of the action by establishing groups which change over every 3-6 hours. Participants will meet on August 22nd at 6.30 pm on the comer of Thököly Street and Dózsa György Street. The organisers of the Hungárián Democratic Fórum, the Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Friendship Society, spokespeople fór the Young Democrats Alliance, the Forrás Kor (Spring Circle) and representatives of Románián refugees in Hungary joined the "Conscience *88" announcement. The authorities did nőt permit the protest. One of the organisers of the protest action - 20 year old Géza Dely - was summoned to the police this moming where they tried to dissuade him from holding the banned protest.
