The 21 groups issued an "Announcement" containing 10 demands: first of all the opened dyke must be filled in immediately and those who planned it must be made responsible. Construction work must be postponed until independent fóréign experts have been heard, they alsó demand a correct estimate of the budget so far, the publication of expert studies which were kept secret up until now, the replacement of land destroyed and the establishment of a common Hungarian-Austrian-Czechoslovakian ecological park in Szigetköz and Csallóköz. It alsó calls fór the creation of a natúré and settlement protection law which ordains a referendum to sanction plans which endanger the lives of great numbers of people, regions and historical values. The announcement asks Hun- garians living abroad to be in solidarity with the protest against environmental destruction and its demands fór Parliamentary rights.
