The appeal says that this is the only theatre in Hungary which operates as a small co-operative without state support, it was built in 14 months without assist- ance and during the year of its existence it has done its utmost to analyse the country’s grave problems and the solution to the crisis in an honest way, giving a space fór the independent movements’ conferences. Due to interference during con- struction and promises of state support nőt being kept a 25 millión forint debt has been accrued, a request fór credit fór five years has been refused by the Budapest Bank although the Theatre has a guarantor and reál security. The Theatre is threat- ened with bankruptcy proceedings. "The Jurta must survive despite all its diffi~ culties" - says the appeal and it asks fór financial support from Hungárián and foreign friends. Donations can be sent to the Theatre from Hungary, from abroad they can be sent through the Hungárián National Bank. Subscribers can use or quote the Hungárián October newsletters in totál or in detail as long as the source is acknowledged.
