It opened as usual with reports, IDA spokespeople and members informed each other of the events of the last two weeks. They said that in many towns in the provinces, such as Debrecen and Szeged, IDA organisers had initiated discussions vith the young people who live there: this time they were nőt prevented from doing so. The announ cement that the first young democrats youth vorker organ­isation had been formed received great applause. After the reports the presidium of the meeting gave anaccount of the basic-regulations plán and the participants draf- ted greetings to other independent movements. At the same time a meeting betveen the Scientific Workers Democratic Union, the intemational conference on conscien- tious objection and the IDA vas being held. Delegates from the meeting vere sent personally to offer greetings to them. Tomorrov, Sunday, Zsolt Nemeth vili greet the Hungárián Democratic Fórum in its conference on behalf of the YDA. Spokespeople reported on the YDA’s libel suit against the Hungárián Press Agency (MTI) and the paper Magyar Hírlap, the first hearing vili take piacé in a fev days time. After a recess representatives of different groups submitted plans and proposals fór the név youth organisation’s programme. In addition to proposals to modify the constitution and the legal system and to change the role of Parliament a great num- ber of concrete proposals vere made: fór example. demands that March 15th is made a red letter day once again, that a monument is raised to the victims of the Rákosi régimé and of the 1956 revolution, that censored films are shovn and that banned books are published. Members of the YDA vho do nőt belong to groups alsó spoke: they proposed that the demands of Transylvanian refugees and of the national rain- orities should feature in the programme plán. After this the meeting elected a body to prepare the programme on the basis of vhat had been said, this vili come before the, IDA congress planned in the Autumn. Then there vas a discussion about the type of youth camps in vhich they vili take part in the summer vhere they vili continue to organise the YDA. Spokespeople gave the address of a restaurant vhere YDA memoers can meet every tvo veeks during the summer. Finally the presidium announced that they vould shortly issue a declaration about the events of the meet­ing and that the YDA vili hold an intemational press conference in the near future.
