They confiscated writings which they found on him and somé other things. Sándor Puski, who is now 76, founded the "Hungárián Life" publishing house in 1939 and he was one of tne organisers of the Populist writers meeting at Balaton­szárszó in 1943- In 1962 Puski was imprisoned on political grounds, he then received an emigratory permit to the United States where he established the Puski-Corvin publishing house and a book distribution finr,. Sándor Píiski nas been to Hungary many times in recent years and somé of his publications were permitted to be sold at a book fair this year. During his recent long stay in tne country Sándor Puski took part in the Laki­hegy meeting of Populist writers on September 27th and was going to publish the minutes of the conference. He made a contract with the Magvető publishing house so that he could publish Hungárián authors in America. On October 26th he snould have travelled back to New York in the morning bút he was detained at 10 am at Ferihegy airport and subjected to a thorough search and interrogation. During. the proceedings which lasted until 6 in the evening they confiscated manuseripts of three Hungárián authors, a number of tapes and all the notes which they found on him,even his passport. On the following aay Puski was summoneö to the police who apologised and purportedly gave back all the things which had been confiscated. The interrogation and search was still going on when the Puski’s pláne took off so their flight had to be postponed. They would probably travel back to New York on November 2nd, a week after the planned time.
