Kranó 103/1987 (E) 4th September, 1987 Hungary Doesn't Sign The Agreement With Israel About Re-Establishing Relations Israel Rádió reported on 1st September that Hungary and Israel were going to sign an agreement to open so-called "special-interest offices" in Budapest and Tel Aviv. According to a statement of Hungary's Deputy Foreign Minister, quoted by Israel Rádió, the opening of these offices would be the first step in re-establishing full diplomatic relations, broken off twenty years ago between the two countries. Today (on 4th September), however, Israel Rádió announced that Hungary delayed the signing of the agreement without any explanation whatsoever and without giving a new date. The agreement was to be signed on Monday, 7th September, in Switzerland. The countries of the Soviet bloc broke their diplomatic relations with Israel in 1967, after the Middle-East War. Románia was the only exception, having full diplomatic relations with Israel even now. Poland, establishing special-interest offices, renewed relations with Israel last year. ó
