According to one of the recent reports of the Hungárián News Agency at Transylvania Michail G-orHachev agreed to see, in the course of his Ruraanian visit, Károly Király, a well-known representative of the Transylvanian Hungárián ethnic minority and a stron Champion against ethnic discrimination. The report ran as follows: Hungárián News Agency of Transylvania 69/1987 Maró svás árhely-Buchare st 4/6/1987 Michail G-orhachev secretary generál of the Soviet Communist Party met Károly Király, leading figure of the Transylvanian Hungarian opposition on the occassion of his visit in Bucharest on the 27th of May. Mr. Király, who held important party offices and since 1977 has on more than one occassion championed the causes of legality and humán rights, outlined the generál position of the country to Mr. G-orhachev with particular regard to the economic and political crisis and the ahsence of rights of the Hungárián and G-erman ethnic minorities. According to furthe'r hűt unconfinned news Károly Király in the company of others had planned handing over a memo~ randum to Mr. G-orhachev on the suhject hűt this plán was later ahandoned. After Mr. G-orhachev’s arrival in Rumania an official of the Soviet emhassy sought out Károly Király and transported him hy an emhassy cár from Marosvásárhely to Bucharest and hack. Somé sources hold that Károly Király has since heen isolated from the world, is tailed in the streets and his telephoné is out o'f order. So far no other news agencies have confirmed the intelligence of the Hungárián News Agency of Transylvania. 5 —. :j
