Krasai 42/1987 /E/ 15th April, 1987 The Trial of Zsolt Keszthelyi Settled, Recent Administrative Measures Afflicting the Democratic Opposition. The date fór the trial of the criminal case of Zsolt Keszthelyi arrested 25 Eebruary has been set. The trial will be held at the Fo Street Military Court in Budapest 27 April at 9«45am* Keszthelyi has been charged with the refusal to do military service, bút the indictment alsó expounds - in a distorted fönn - his political statement condemning the totalitarian system. Zsolt Keszthelyi has been subject to repeated medical examinations in the last few weeks. According to a medical report made on one of the examinations, Keszthelyi suffers from "disturbances in the development of personality" and is therefore unfit fór armed service. Friends of Zsolt Keszthelyi consider this diagnosis as a covert offer to him to do unarmed labour service. Zsolt Keszthelyi, however, alsó rejects labour service (service at the "auxiliary engineering corps" by the official name), because he isn't led by religious conviction forbidding to handle a weapon bút has the political standpoint nőt to become a soldier of an army, which is nőt subject to control by democratic govemment. The unemployed sociologist Ottilia Solt, organizer of the Foundation fór Supporting the Poor and one of the editors of the independent journal "Beszélő", had her application fór passport refused 13 April. The decision in writing of the passport department of the Ministry of Interior gave fór the refusal the reason of her being legally prosecuted fór a criminal act. In fact, no criminal proceedings are instituted against Ottilia Solt; supposing it were so, she would have to be informed about it, as laws in effect preseribe. On 14 April the police of District XI of Budapest imposed a fine of 10,000 forints on the unemployed teacher of history György Gadó,a well-known participant in the democratic opposition movement, fór infringement of press regulations. Gadó had been heavily fined fór three times last year; the reasons given fór the recent fine were that the police, raiding his fiat on 11 March, seized a number of unauthorized publications. In 1986, members of the democratic opposition were fined more than 100,000 forints altogether, while this year the sum totál of the fines imposed on them until now mounts up to 49,000 forints. More hearings on infringement of press regulations will be held at police courts in the near future conceming the cases of Mikolta Bognár, András Nagy, Jenő Nagy and József Talata. László Rusai has been sumraoned to the military prosecutor's Office fór an interrogation on 15 April. Rusai has been held fór weeks in a psychiatric institute submitted to forced treatment in October last year, 3oth anniversary of the revolution. Á’f-
