Kros-si 17/1987 /E/ 5th March, 1987 Hungárián dissidents* letter to Gustav Husak protesting against the imprisonment of fetr Pospichal Twenty participants of democratic opposition in Hungary sent a letter today to Gustav Husak, President of the Socialist Republic of Czechoslovakia, concerning the árrést of Petr Pospichal: To Mr Gustav Husak The President of the Socialist Republic of Czechoslovakia Mister President, On the 22nd of January Petr Pospichal, one of the signatories of Charta *77, was arrested in Bmo. His crime was to participate in the production and distribution of unauthorized publications and to maintain contact with the followers of the Polish Solidarity movement and with Czechoslovak exiles in the West. If the penal procedure was really launched against him fór this reason then he were imprisoned fór exercising rights that the Czechoslovak govemment had obliged itself to uphold in international treaties. To ensure the keeping of international treaties is the duty of the Head of State. So we call on you to prevent the violation of law that the sentencing of Pospichal would imply and to see his release. Budapest, ^th March, 1987.
