He lectured for a time in 1936 in the Kalocsa archdiocesan seminary and served as lawyer for the indigent in the archdiocesan court. In 1939 he was made professor at the seminary and be­come known for his activity as a defensor vinculi. He also served as the official diocesan censor. In 1946, he was appointed archepiscopal counsélor. He was appoint­ed pastor in Slik'dsd in 1947, and in addition vice-dean in 1948. From 1957-62 he was pastor in the city of Baja, and later also dean. He was appointed titular ab­bot in 1958, and Titular Bishop of Elide and Apostolic Administrator of Pécs in 1959, though until now his consecration as bishop was hindered by the Hungarian government. In 1962 he became pastor in the small community of Miske. He has been pastor in Jánoshalma since 1970. Now, 23 years after his appointment as bishop, Dr. Belon, who is now 71 years old, will finally receive his episcopal consecra­tion and become Auxiliary Bishop of Pécs. Dr. László PASKAI was born on 8 May 1927 in Szeged. His high school years were spent at the Piarists in Szeged. He began his theological studies at the Francis­cans in Gyöngyös, and ended them, after the Order's dissolution, at the Theological Academy in Budapest. On 8 March 1951 he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Nagyvárad. He finished his doctoral studies at the Theological Academy in Budapest in 1952, and in the same year became the episcopal master of ceremonies in the chancery of the Bishop of Csanád. In 1955, he became professor of philosophy at the Theological College in Szeged and also librarian. He was prefect of the semi­nary and helped out in parish work. He was appointed as the seminary's spiritual director in 1962. In addition to his philosophy classes, he also lectured on ascetics and liturgy. In 1965, he was appointed spiritual director of the Central Seminary in Budapest. In the same year, he began to hold classes as a lecturer at the Theological Academy in Budapest. He spent the summer of 1966 in Louvain, where he studied modern philosophy at the Institut Supérieur de la Philosophie. In 1967, he became professor of philosophy at the Academy. He became rector of the Central Seminary in 1973. On 6 March 1978, Pope Paul VI appointed him Apostolic Adminis­trator of the Diocese of Veszprém and Titular Bishop of Bavagaliana. In 1979 he became the Diocesan Bishop of Veszprém. He has now been appointed Archepiscopal Coadjutor with right to succession for the Archdiocese of Kalocsa, and will assume the leadership of the Archepiscopal See of Kalocsa upon the resignation or death of Archbishop Ijjas. / Dr. György POKA was born on 8 March 1916 in Tornyiszentmiklos in the County of Zala.
