Gergely Csijfáry: Documents regarding the relocation of Jewish people in Heves County These two recently uncovered sources that are published can be considered to be amongst the most significant documents relating to the relocation and ghettoization of Jewish people in Heves County. The first document (dated on 4 May 1944) is a decree made by the sub-prefect of Heves County designating die new residential areas of the relocated Jewish people. The document reveals the number of ghettos in Heves County as well as the fact that 6601 people were forced into ghettos. The fate of this people was doomed as after spending one and a half months in ghetto they were all transported to concentration camps in Poland. The second document is a decree made by the head of the administrative authority for the district of Eger ("főszolgabíró" in Hungarian, "supremus iudlium" in Latin) regarding the setting up of a ghetto at the mine-camp in the village of Szúcs.This document also includes the regulations of the ghetto. These sources are of special interest because as far as we know, no ghetto regulations has been published so far in Hungary. Therefore it was necessary to publish these documents. 259
