Mrs Erzsébet Kondor 25 bishopric chartere authenticated by 25 persons There are two known bishopric chartere in Eger one of them was published as a critical issue. The other one is the charter of Stephen the V. of 1271 which is abaut the so-called privileges of the bishopric in Eger and it was rewritten by the chapter of Esztergom in october 28. 1284. This charter is really interesting because it mentions the reahtionship of the queen and the king with the royal court, the education of the Royal Prince. It describes the tithe and the taxes collected at that times. Anyway it's a very important charter because it's authenticated by 25 noble persons, and the technical terms demonstrating the differentiation are in a transit status. The originál edition of this charter can't be found so this copy telis us about: In Parliament convoked in Hajóhalom and Heves Bishop Lampert talked about the destruction of the chartere of the bishopric which was caused by the Tartar war and a candicionarius noble person who destroyed somé of them as well. Bishop Lampert wanted the Parliament to write these chartere again. Twenty-five highly respected noble persons gave evidence of these privileges. The bishop of Eger must be noble, must have juristic education the bishop had to bring up the son of the king. (Nőne of the kings used this chance.) The bishop was given ten percent of the flax, hemp, leguminous plants, livestock, poultry and the progeny of the honey-bee. The studfarm of the crown prince was made of the foal tithe. The wine tithe was shared by the king and the bishop. Colonists could come free. The grain tithe needed to be paid in money. Only the bishop or his delegate could put judgement on the population of the diocese. The bishop couldn't alienate any possessions and he couldn't give tax allowence. The chapter of Esztergom authenticated this charter. 208
