Hajdú-Bihar Megyei Levéltár Évkönyve XXVI. 13 azok, akik elnevezték a települést, azaz a táj lakossága, csak magyar vagy török eredetű népesség lehetett. Összefoglalás Kaba mint személynév több török nép nyelvében megtalálható. Mint személy- és településnév az ország olyan vidékein bukkan fel, ahol egyértelműen kimutatható a magyarsághoz csatlakozott török népek - besenyők, űzök, kunok - jelenléte. Az egykor Szabolcshoz, jelenleg pedig Hajdú-Biharhoz tartozó Kaba pedig a dukátus területén volt, ahol a dux vezetése alatt szintén a csatlakozott népek, amelyek jelentős része török etnikumú volt, telepedtek le. Ennek alapján meglehetős egyértelműséggel leszögezhetjük, hogy az általunk vizsgált település neve, csakúgy, mint a történelmi Magyarország területén található valamennyi Kaba település neve török eredetű. Csaba Katona Origins of the settlement name: Kaba The settlement name, Kaba, occurred, in medieval times, in several regions of the territory of historical Hungary: in Transdanubia, in Bihar county, in the then territory of Szabolcs county, in Great Cumania. Similarly popular was it as a personal name in various areas of the country, mostly in places where so-called “supplementary” tribes settled down together with Hungarians in the time of the Hungarian Conquest, or later, tribes mostly of ethnically Turkish origin: Kabar, Uz, Pecheneg, Cumanian). The settlement Kaba, chosen as the topic of the present discussion, belonged to the one-time Szabolcs, later Bihar counties, nowadays it is a village in Hajdú-Bihar county. The presumably Turkish origin of the name can justly be assumed since the word “kaba” occurs in several Turkish languages, and since it is characteristic of several nations of Turkish ethnicity (the same is valid for Hungarian) that place names are often derived from personal ones. The village Kaba in the one-time Szabolcs county was subjected in medieval times to a peculiar institution of Árpád-age Hungary, the “dukedom”. Governing the territory of the dukedoms
