With the enrichment of the Israeli population, who played a role of ever increasing significance in the industry and commerce of Debrecen City, the purchasing of land, and building was able to commence on a large scale. The golden age of building by the religious community was between the years of 1890 and 1910, when the basic religious institutions commenced their operation. Later development of the institutions was slowed down by the unfavourable economic and financial situation. Following the destruction caused by the war, and the deportations, a section of the properties of the diminished Jewish community were lost because of nationalisation, some were forced to be sold due to the lack of money, and only a fraction of the institutions remained in the ownership of the religious community.
