The treasury list of Balmazújváros from 1797 Antal Varga In last year’s annual of the Archives of Hajdu-Bihar county I had a treasury list published about one half of Balmazújváros. The present survey was made about the other half of the market-town from materials passed to the treasury upon landlord István Andrássy’s of death without a male descendant. In the year of the survey Isabelle Ungreschtsberg, the widown of István Andrássy, living in Vienna, was the beneficiary of the property, who leased this part to the community of Balmazújváros. The list, thoraughly prepared, contains the detaüed description of every building in the estate and their values as well. (Estimations were made by specialists.). The list contains: The “dry”-mill, butchery, the Fejér-pub, the German pub in the inner area and the pothouse Vinnyó with its stalls and cart-stands on the outskirts; the house of the miller, the buildings constructed for functionals, together with the stalls, the farmstead at the brook Kadarcs and the Roman Catholic rectory. ín the landlady’s part there are 67 whole and 1/pieces of in villein tenure with 133 conters with houses and 11 cotters without houses. One piece of in villein tenure is of 38 “hold”-s (21.66 hectares). There is an 8’s hayfield for each of these parcels. The whole pasture is sman common. In this area there is a vineyard for 5° hoes. Ploughlands are of first class. 4 “bales” of rhye, 3 bales of wheat, 4 bales of barley and 4 bales of oaat can be expected out of one “bale” of seed. 634 horses, 10 oxen, 1116 cows and 2815 sheep graze on the pasture. The socage of the dependants is of the value of 75 Rft 20 crowns. The landlord does not maintain farmsteads. The Magdolna-meadow is a manorial hayfield. The whole borderland of the town is rented by the community, paying 2500 Rft-s for it. Larger rents are: 173
