Tóth Norbert Summary Grand and minor provosts of Győr in Sigismund’s era We can owe our knowledge about the provosts of the chapter of Győr and of the St. Adalbert church in Győr-hill to Vince Bedy, who summarized the data concerning them in his work published in 1938. The sources, though, were explored rather insufficiently at that time, thus the database compiled by Bedy is incomplete. The situation is even more difficult, as the sources do not always indicate which provost is in question. The grand provosts headed the chapter, while the provosts of St. Adalbert - becoming a member of the chapter already in the 13th century - followed the grand provost in dignitary and wore the title of minor provost. As the exploration of sources has progressed a lot since Bedy’s work, a new summary of the data concerning the bearers of the two provostries is required.
