258 Katona Csaba Summary Relationship of the Ebenhöch and Jéhn families Facts and figures about the family background of Canon Ferenc Ebenhöch The canon Ferenc Ebenhöch was one of the most well-known figures of 19th century Győr. The versatile man’s work was not only connected to the Church, but he had wide interest in archeology, historiography and collections. Besides Ebenhöch lived an active social life, he was a defining figure of contemporary society of Győr, even he kept a wide net of connections with several eminent personalities throughout the country. The present paper studies his family’s origins after providing his short biography. First, how he became as descendant of a butcher’s family an important and determining intellectual in Győr, then it presents Ebenhöch’s relationship to the eminent pharmacist family of Sopron, originating from County Tolna. This relationship - as the sources prove - was lively and intimate. (c^ C%3)
