Localities with questionable age are marked with interrogation mark. Some localities are marked with small black triangle pointing upwards or downwards. This indicates that the age of the locality may be younger or older with one MN zone. The chart was compiled after the following sources: KORDOS 1992b, STEININGER et al. 1985, MÜLLER 1998, FEJFAR & HEINRICH 1985. I presented the Pannonian/Pontian boundary questionably at 7.1 or 8.5 Ma after MÜLLER 1998 and MAGYAR et al. 1999. In the present paper I applied this boundary as 8.5 Ma, so the MN 11—12 zones are within the Pontian.)
