There is a distinct difference between the fauna of several sections. In some beds the Myodocopid genus Polycope is frequent (12-28 %). The Kericser (Carixian and Domerian) samples and the Szentgál, Gombáspuszta samples are of this kind (Figs. 8­10) . The first and second sample came from micritic limestones of a "Hierlatzkalk" section. This type of sediment was deposited on the slope or the foot of the seamounts (VÖRÖS, 1983, 1986).
