the Eucladoceros tetraceros (Dawkins, 1878) from Peyrolles (Table 2.). The group of Eucladoceros senezensis senezensis (Depéret, 1910), published from Senéze, is extremely heterogeneous as regards its Osteometrie values. Small, medium-size and large forms equally occur in it. CHRONOLOGY OF E. TETRACEROS FROM SÁRBOGÁRD The valley of the Sárvíz had been developed along the axis of the Mezőföld (part of Dunántúl [Transdanubia]) in a tectonic trough of NW-SE direction. The age of the trough is Late Pliocene - Early Pleistocene. The digging-up of the Sárvíz bed at Sárbogárd - Nagyhörcsök-puszta did not reach the Pliocene sediments. The sediment layer of the E. tetraceros from Sárbogárd is identical with the layer "clay with calcareous nodules" known from the Lower Pleistocene locality at Kisláng (Kretzoi 1954, p. 214). This layer is of Early Pleistocene age. The chronological and osteometrical dimensions show a decreasing trend from E. senezensis vireti (Heintz, 1970, Middle Villafranchian) through E. senezensis senezensis (Depéret, 1910, Upper Villafranchian) to E. tetraceros (Dawkins, 1878, Late Upper Villafranchian) and it seems to be at the same time an evolutionary tendency as well. The E. tetraceros (Dawkins, 1878) of Sárbogárd belongs to the Kisláng faunal phase of the Upper Villányian Stage. Table 1. Eucladoceros tetraceros, bone measurements.
