Vörös A. szerk.: Fragmenta Mineralogica Et Palaentologica 15. 1992. (Budapest, 1992)

Zone of the Pliensbachian of the Bakony Mountains. The species was reported from the Eastern Alps (Hierlatz), the Southern Alps (South Tyrol), the Northern Appennines (Monte Pisano), Sicily and the Bakony Mountains. Genus Antiptychina ZITTEL, 1880 Antiptychina 1 rothpletzi (Dl STEFANO, 1891) (Pl. VI, Fig. 2; Text-fig. 39) 1891 Waldheimia rothpletzi n.sp. - Di Stefano: p. 261, pi. 4, figs. 20-23. 1967 Zeilleria rothpletzi Dl STEFANO - Sacchi Vialli and Cantaluppi: p. 110, pi. 15, figs. 14-15. Material: 3 complete specimens. Dimensions (mm): Specimen M.91.33. (Text-fig. 39) length: 15.0, width: 16.0, thickness: 9.3. Description - External characters: Medium-sized shell, subtriangular in outline. The sides of triangle are slightly convex, the base is more convex. The angle between the lateral margins is about 120°. The antero-lateral corners are quite rounded. The width is greater than the length while the thickness is Text-fig. 39 - Drawing of two-thirds of the length. Biconvex form, the Antiptychina ? rothpletzi pedicle valve is more convex than the brachial one. The maximum width is situated at the anterior margin, the maximum convexity is at half of the length. The beak is small and erect. There are two beak ridges on the pedicle valve, running to one-third of the length. The anterior commissure is sulcate. The depth of sulcus is only one-quarter of the total thickness. The width of sulcus is greater than half of the total width. The sulcus develops from half of the length on the brachial valve and from the beak on the pedicle valve. The sulcus is angular in cross-section at the anterior margin. There is a weak capillation on the shell surface. Internal characters: There were no adequate specimens available for serial sectioning due to the paucity of the material. Remarks: Antiptychina ? rothpletzi is somewhat similar to Linguithyris linguata. However, the sulcus oiA.?rothpletzi is very long , it starts from the beak of the pedicle valve. Furthermore, the sulcus is more angular in cross-section and it is relatively wide but not too deep. Distribution: Vörös (1982) mentioned A. ? rothpletzi from the Jamesoni to the Stokesi Zones of the Pliensbachian in the Bakony Mountains. Apart from the Bakony Mountains, this species is known from the Southern Alps (Piemonte) and Sicily.
