The species is known in Hungary in the Egerian stage only. In these layers we found them in many localities in the same association. FAGACEAE Quercus cf. Quercus apocynophyllum Ett. (Figs. 47, 57) 1870. Ficus giebeli Heer - ENGELHARDT, p. 37, pl. 13, fig. 1. 1872. Quercus apocynophyllum Ett. - ETTINGSHAUSEN, p. 178, pi. 4, fig. 19. 1888. Quercus apocynophyllum Ett. - ETTINGSHAUSEN, p. 27, pi. 2, figs. 18, 19. 1964. Quercus cf. pinnativenulosa Muell. - ANDREÁNSZKY and KOVÁCS, p. 30, fig. 24. ? 1966. Quercus palaeofournieri Andr. et Kov. - ANDREÁNSZKY, p. 56, fig. 41. ? 1966. Quercus salicina Sap. - ANDREÁNSZKY, p. 58, figs. 42-44. 1979. Quercus apocynophyllum Ett. - RÜFFLE and PALAMAREV, p. 31, text. figs. 1-8; pl. 1, figs. 1-3; pi. 2, figs. 1-3; pi. 3, figs. 1-3; pi. 4, figs. 1-3. Material: BK- 1329, BK-1315 The first fossil is a medial remain of the leaf. Its length is unknown, its width is 2. 7 cm. The shape of the leaf is not visible. Originally it had a long and narrow lamina. Midrib very strong. Angles between the midvein and the secondary veins are about 70°, the distances of the secondary veins from one another are 1.0-1.2 cm. Among the secondary veins intermediate veins can be observed, branching our from the midvein. Margin entire, but. mostly indistinct. The species is distributed in the Oligocène of Hungary, though in general only a few specimens can be found in the localities. At the Nagysáp locality only an uncertain remain was found, so the species probably did not play an important role in the flora. BETULACEAE Alnus L. cf. Alnus sp. (Figs. 51-53) (Pl. IV: 1, 21 Material: BK1173, BK-1197, BK-1302 Some medial leaf-fragments with toothed margin belong to this genera. We can give no closer taxonomic identification on the basis of small, relatively insignificant remains. U LMACEAE Ulmus L. Ulmus pyramidalis Goepp. (Figs. 54a,b) (Pl. IV: 4a, b) 1845. Ulmus bronni Ung. (partim) - UNGER, pi. 26, fig. 1, non figs. 2-4. 1845. Ulmus longifolia Ung. - ibid., pl. 26, figs. 5,6. 1855. Ulmus pyramidalis Goepp. - GOEPPERT, p. 28, pi. 13, figs. 10-12. 1859. Carpinus pyramidalis (Goepp.) Heer - HEER, p. 177, pl. 87, fig. 7f; pi. 150, figs. 27, 28. 1881. Betula brongniartii Ett. (partim) - ENGELHARDT, p. 78, pl. 1, fig. 13, non fig. 12. 1971. Ulmus pyramidalis Goepp. - BUZEK, p. 56, pi. 19, figs. 3-18; pi. 20, figs. 1-17; pi. 21, figs. 1-8. 1976. Ulmus pyramidalis Goepp. - KNOBLOCH and KVAŐEK, p. 49, pi. 13, fig. 9; pi. 31, fig. 12.
