M - The labial anteroloph is always mature, but the lingual is sometimes missing. Among the cone couples the process of island emergence is significant. The mesolophs are long (6 cases), or are of medium length (2 cases). The posteroloph is short and is re-joined to the metacone. M 3 - Its structure is strongly reduced. Islands developed between the proto- and paracone longitudinally, and between the meta- and posteroloph transversely, respectively. 1 mm I Fig. 6 Upper second molars from the Hungarian Neogene localities: 1= Eumyarion bifidus from Rudabánya, 2-3= Democricetodon gaillardi from Rudabánya, 4 = Neocricetodon schaubi from Csákvár, 5= Karstocricetus sp. from Széchenyi Hill in Budapest, 6= Cricetinus europaeus from Csarnóta 2, 7 = Cricetus kormosi from Polgárdi 3, 8 = Cricetus kormosi from Polgárdi 4, 9 = Kowalskia polonica from Osztramos 1
