If they are not cumulates, they should be regarded as primitive basalts because of their very elevated mg-values (65-72). As can be seen in the TASdiagram (Fig. 7), these basalts are probably transitional between alkali and calk-alkali basalts. Basalts of the Lucenec (Losonc) area The basaltic rocks of this area - according to data of FIALA (1962) and F ORG AO & KUPCO (1974) - are either alkali olivine basalts or olivine basanite moderately rich in nepheline. Both MgO poor («5 %) and MgO-rich (^11 %) rocks are present here. These rocks according to their chemical character are related to the basalts of the Nógrád area (North Hungary).
