In these garnets, grossular varies sympathetically with pyrope while almandine and to lesser extent spessartine changes antipathetically (i. e. decraeses towards the margin). Garnets of Bajdázó Hill are characterized by a completely different zoning pattern. In a large garnet crystal (Bajdázó-A) e. g. pyrope and almandine very sympathetically (rMgO-FeO = +0.73, calculated on the basis of 42 analyses) and both tend to increase towards the margin (Fig. 4). In contrast, there is a sudden increase in the grossular molecule in the core. The correlation between FeO (total Fe) and MnO is weak (r = +0.39) in this case. MnO behaves in a peculiar manner because its concentration is around 1% at any spot in the core, then it has a maximum in the transitional zone and decreases again towards the margins, yet remaining at somewhat higher levels than in the core. Zoning pattern is different again in the pink garnet of Királyrét. Though MnO vary antipathetically and in the same sense that in Csehvár garnets changes are slighter, moreover FeO as well as CaO fail to show any regular variability but rather they change in an oscillatory manner. All the garnets from different source rocks contain TiO generally between 0.16 and 0. 60%. The Csehvár and Bajdázó Hill garnets are zoned in respect of titanium content too, but while the first ones have practically not Ti in the core and 0.3-0.5% in the marginal zones, the second ones are zoned in the reverse sense i.e. the core is enriched slightly in Ti (0. 39 + 0. 06) relative to the margin (0. 22 + 0. 03). Garnets of Tóbércbánya Though garnets of Tóbércbánya are also almandine-rich, their chemistry differ from the preceding ones considerably. Thus spessartine < 5% in all cases (up to 11%) in contrast, they contain only about 4-5% grossular. Except for the unusually Fe-rich core, of the Csehvár garnets, the Tóbérc ones are always richer in almandine than garnet megacryst from andesitic rocks.
