The sedimentpetrographical examination of the deposites resulted in the following: the yellow silt, seemingly dislocated at the beginning of the Middle Pliocene shows a typical clayey-silt without larger rubble components, the CaCOg contain is very low (2.25-3.47%). It contains in 15-50% haematite, chlorite and mica. This speaks for an origin from the natrongabbro, the remains of which lie at the south-western foot of the Osztramos-Hill today. The composition of the red clays of different localities is chiefly uniform. They originated all from dry carstic earth of the surrounding surface. The clay of Loc. 7. resembles in some features with that of Loc. 13, the sediment of Loc. 1. and 3. contains smaller or larger haematite lumps. Pebbles (from Quarz or metamorphic matter) are lacking in the deposits, speaking for an early elevation of the Osztramos Hill from the terrace-system of the bordering Bódva-valley .
