bent in their upper part. Their lower parts are somewhat thickened. The height of the chambers larger than their width. The axial section is characterized by its biconvex form the thick spiral lamina, the thick marginal cord, which measure abbut 1/3 the spiral cavity, and the pillars which run in bundle, forming a large polar pustula at the pole of the test. Diameter: 2 mm, thickness: 1 mm. Occurence: The representatives of this species are found in large number at the top beds of Gabal El Shaghab. Distribution: Douville recorded this species from the Lower Eocene of the Aquitain, France. Llueca described this species from the Ypresian of Spain. Davies found this species in the Lower Eocene beds of the Punjab Salt Range in India. Schaub, mentioned this species form the Lower part of the Schlierenflysch in Switzerland. Nemkov, recorded this species from the Lower Eocene of the Soviet Union. Kenawy described N . globulus from the Lower Ypresian of the Thebes Formation at Taramsa section, Qena Egypt. Stratigraphie position: Lower Ypresian. HI, figs, lb, 2b; pl. IV, figs. 2a, b. The Axial section: This small Nummulites is characterized by its biconvex form, its rapidly increasing whorls, its thin marginal cord and by the presence of a median tubercle at the pole of the test. Occurence: This species is found together with N. atacicus, N. globulus in the upper part of the limestone beds in Gabal El Shaghab. Distribution: This species was described by DE LA HARPE from the Esna Shale of El Guss Abu Aid, Farafra Oasis. Schaub recorded this species from the Upper Paleocene and the Lower Eocene of the Schlierenflysch in Switzerland. SAID & KERDANY observed N. solitarius from the upper part of the Esna Shale in Farafra Oasis. Nemkov recorded also this species from the Lower Eocene of the Soviet Union. KENAWY described this species from the Thebes Formation of Taramsa section, Qena, Nile Valley. Age: Lower Ypresian.
