trinidadensis / G. édita zone, thus characterizing the G. unci nata zone. Stratigraphie range: This species was first described by BOLLI (1957) from the Paleocene of the lower Lizard Springs formation in Trinidad, "/here it is found to characterize the G. uncinata zone. BOLLI & CITA (I960) recorded this species from the Paleocene of the Paderno d'Adda section in northern Italy. SAID & SABRY (1964-) described G. uncinata from the Landenian, where it is found to characterize the Globorotalia uncinata zone of Gebel Aweina, Nile Valley, Egypt. EL NAGGAR (1966) recorded this species from the upper Danian till the lower part of the middle Paleocene, in the Esna - Idfu region , Egypt . Globorotalia varianta (SUBBOTINA) (pl. III. fig. 6; pl. Description: Test medium, low trochospiral, the dorsal side nearly flat, the ventral side convex; composed of 2 ^ whorls, the first whorl is small in comparison with the second whorl. Equatorial periphery strongly lobate, axial periphery rounded.
