Dr. Nagy I. Zoltán szerk.: Fragmenta Mineralogica Et Palaentologica 3. 1972. (Budapest, 1972)

This zone is equivalent to the G. pseudomenardii zone from the lower Lizard Springs formation in Trinidad (BOLLI, 1957) and this from the Paderno d'Adda in northern Italy (BOLLI & CITA I960). It can be correlated with the G. pseudomenardii zone from the Central Apennines (LUT ERBACHER I964). The same zone is equivalent to zone "E" from the Basin of Reichenhall and Salzburg (HILLEBRANDT 1962) and to the G. pseudomenardii zone from Spain (HILLEBRANDT 1965). To the age of this zone is controversy, some authors assigned it to the Montian(BOLLI & CITA I960); HILLEBRANDT (1962, 1965) gave it a lower Landenian age; LUTERBACHER (1964) and LUTERBACHER & SILVA (I964) assigned it to the Thanetian and Ilerdian age. 6. Globorotalia velascoensis zone (Landenian) This zone extends throughout the Esna Shale above of Chalk. It exhibits an assemblage of large, keeled Globorotalia species. It is characterized by the flood of Globorotalia velascoensis together with: Globorotalia aequa , G. pseudo- scitula , G. convexa , Acarina rotundimarg inata and Zeauvi- gerina aegyptiaca. This zone is of world - wide distribution. It is recorded bj BOLLI (1957) from the upper Paleocene of the lower Lizard Springs formation in Trinidad. It is equivalent with the upper part of the G. velascoensis- acuta- spiralis subzone of the Gulf and Atlantic Coastal Plain (LOEBLICH & TAPPAN 1957). This zone can be correlated with that described by SUBBOTINA (1953) as G.crassata- Acarinina intermedia sub zone from Russia. BOLLI & CITA (i960) recorded this zone from the Montain of the Paderno d'Adda section, northern Italy. This zone is recorded by LUTERBACHER (1964) from the central Apennines which he considered to be of Ilerdian age. This zone concides exacly with zone "P" in the Basin of Reichenhall and Salzburg (HILLEBRANDT, 1962) and also with that in Spain (HILLEBRANDT, 1965) which he attributed to the upper Landenian.
