II. Közlemények - új szerzemények - Kovács S. Tibor: Török díszbuzogány a Károlyi-gyűjteményből (A 17. század második felének méltóságjelvénye az oszmán-török birodalomban)
The Károlyi mace was made most probably between 1703-1730, during the rule of Ahmed III and must have belonged to an Ottoman officer of high rank. When could it get to the collection of the Károlyi family? A secondary scene of the war against the Ottomans in 1717 was Transylvania, attacked by Tartar troops with Ottoman leadership. Looting Tartar troops were just leaving the territory of Transylvania when at a fight they were defeated by Hungarians lead by Ferenc Deák and they got a booty. In our opinion this mace was looted in that occasion, given later to the commander of Deák, Sándor Károlyi. 196
