Introduction We would like to meet the claims of long years with the renewal of the content and form of Folia Historica. In the spirit of this, without changing the name, the Hungarian National Museum wishes to publish a yearly historical, historico-cultural periodical of high standard, in which theoretical-methodical works and critical writings get greater importance. Although our aim of vital importance is to introduce the collections of the Hungarian National Museum and publish the results of scientific research in the institute, the periodical is open from every point of view to receive valuable works of home and international research. We hope that the structure of Folia Historica in its new length and form would help its better arrangement and the English and German abstracts its wider use. We suppose that by the volumes of this new Folia Historica and the series of Bibliotheca Humanitatis Historica revived after fifty years of interval the Hungarian National Museum would have its due place again in Hungarian and international historico-cultural research.
