Comparative remarks - Based on the general shape, colour and the absence of wings, the new species is closely related to Rismethus ryukyuensis ÔHIRA, 1999 from Japan. It can be distinguished by the sparser setae covering the body, shorter antennae with antennomeres less serrate from the fourth, sides of pronotum less sinuate before posterior angles and by the apices of páraméra which are less pointed. Rismethus catei sp. n. (Fig. 3) Material examined - Holotype, female: "Malaysia: Johot, Endau-Rompin N.P., Pulau Jasin, 19.HI. 1998, Pacholatko & Dembicky" (CCW). Description - Length 1.67 mm; width 0.7 mm. Female (Fig. 3). Entirely yellow-ferruginous with lighter antennae and legs. Covered with semi-erect, whitish and thickened scales. Head very small, narrower than anterior part of pronotum; eyes flat; frons convex on vertex, feebly impressed at anterior margin, coarsely punctate. Antennae short, not reaching middle of pronotum, strongly serrate from fourth antennomere; second antennomere cylindrical, twice as long as wide; third antennomere globose and short, as long as about half of second; fourth and fifth antennomeres triangular, strongly dilated outwards, widet than long; sixth to ninth antennomeres as long as wide; tenth antennomere cup-shaped, wider than the preceding; eleventh antennomere oblong-ovate, pointed apically, about twice as long as tenth. Pronotum transverse, constricted immediately behind anterior angles, 1.2 times wider than long, strongly convex on disc, abruptly declivous at sides, nearly vertical at base; lateral carina feebly crenulate, visible throughout its whole length in dorsal view and not attaining anterior margin; sides widest at middle, gently arcuate, slightly sinuate before posterior angles, the latter with pointed apex, not or barely diverging; anterior margin with prolonged anterior angles and englobing the head as far as the level of eyes; punctures coarse, evenly distributed, deep and simple, interspaces shiny and equal, about half of puncture diameters. Scutellum flat, quadrangular, without carina, only partially visible in dorsal view. Elytra connate, 1.65 times longer than pronotum, and 1.35 times longer than wide, widest at anterior third, then strongly narrowing toward apex, the latter regularly rounded; sides crenulate, disc very convex, coarsely and evenly punctate, striae indistinct. Wings absent. Prosternai sutures deeply furrowed for about half of their length. Male unknown. Bionomics - Unknown.
